Monday.........
Ah Bliss! A few hours on my own in peace without the children- but was I in a Historic village or a cute boutique? Or browsing the custumes at the royal ballet? Not even a tiny chance- I was in Chelmsford town center- now most town centers have a few happy corners of lovelieness, Monsoon, Art shops, Gift shops, second hand book shops and Charity (thrift) shops but it was also about 37 mins to closing time with less than £30 in my pocket? Also being desperate for the loo? Not exactly a relaxing time out eh? I managed (after the essential loo stop) to set my sights on Laura ashley and purchase (£12 down) this pretty tea light holder lantern thingummybob. Which is perfect for my plan of convincing Toby to let me buy and refurbish a little retro caravan-just think how it would look with white wood panelling...... Sorry I digress!....

.........then since most Libraries stay open much later than shops I planned a little time scouring books for new ideas and so I treated myself to this portable watercolour set, not a highly practical idea for a town library but I dream of a really perfect handbag prepared for any stolen child free hour (perhaps in the V&A!) with lovely thick paged journals for sketching and notes and a camera and mp3 full of grown up songs,'stead of Thomas the tank engine etc.
I once had a 1966 Hilman imp like this, and I had in the boot a hamper of bone china tea cups and saucers ready to stop for Tea and biscuits when required -just because there is so much pleasure in unpacking tiny, well-made, pretty, useful things and just packing them away again! See more digression! and after I got home I took one step nearer the perfect bag with this little wrap for the paint set..... soon to have a matching paint brush roll. Don't you just love the chicken fabric? I am definately missing my chickens...... I can see myself starting to fence off a corner in the garden if not restrained (perhaps by the purchase of a caravan?)
I returned home to find the lovely postman had left me tthe answer to my curtain conumdrum- if your little girl has the cutest pink bedroom what do you do if she asks for rainbow coloured drapes? I am hoping this fantastic Russian doll fabric is going to be a happy medium and tough if not because she'll change her mind another 10 times by the end of the year!and item 2-can you tell what it is yet? yep, it's a seven teir wedding cake stand just what every girl needs! I do have this thing about perspex but this is for a childrens party where I have promised over 60 cupcakes- me and my big mouth! And so after a moment of me time, on Tuesday we were back to this......normality!

New House Update

After years of old, shabby but not very chic cottages, we now have a new build house- Not my first choice as I hate fitted kitchens with a vengeance and they seem to have left all sorts of fittings exposed like the linings of pockets hanging out! These will need to be de-ugly-fied some how but I have been forbidden from painting roses on them! (By the way my Boo has decided she is going to have a floral VW Campervan as an Icecream van when she grows up-Perfect!)

We have managed to replace most of the furniture lost in the fire and I'm half way through the curtains at the mo, and although many of you would think having a blank canvas to fill would be just peachy I have really struggled! the combination of needing everything at once and not having the worlds biggest budget, aswell as knowing exactly what I want has made me have to hold on to get things just right.

Also I realised many of the little bits are the things memories have placed there and to bulk buy in a bunch of bits just doesn't replace these, so pictures for the empty walls and other special pieces will take time to find and (hopefully) be given again by loved ones.

So there wont be all that many updates on the house for a while as there's just so much finishing off to do and like my bed above everything always seems to be in chaos!

I'm having a facelift!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not personally of course! Just a new name, and new things to make, and an end to all the things that were sapping the fun out of working from home, I wanted to make sure I was really proud of everything I pop in a box and send of into the blue. I still feel in need of some closure over the whole fire thing, the moving endlessly and clinging on to all the past. So I am going to step into a big metaphorical chrysallis and emerge a butterfly getting rid of this horrid thick skin feeling....
......so I have collected together all of my lovely things and reorganized myself for a new start, as the mess was everywhere and work was getting too stressful. I am planning doing things more to my style and taste and in my time too- nothing to order- just as it pleases me, not a great business ethic really but I think I probably work more as a creative outlet and a break from teaching the children than for the millions-which would only get spent on fabric anyway!
Anyway I've got that off my chest(what a moaner!) I think I shall probably plan a giveaway for next week and also just say that I have a few fabrics going on Ebay this week so have a peek!
