don't look at me that way.............

(image:here)

Remember me? I am the blogger formerly known as Zia and, yes, there is no excuse, well not really only about 20 half excuses that just added up to several months of radio silence, I made a few life changing decisions and tried a few new things and have just about returned to a state of normality, which seems to be living buried under huge piles of paperwork, normally covered in doodles by small children!

So here's a quick update- we've quit (or are trying to quit) making soft furnishings as I just couldn't give it the time it needed (I've got 4 kids at home you know! Have I mentioned that before.............) and therefore I just wasn't making enough money -which I guess is why we are in business after all! I am just selling gifts and a few fabric bits that I make through my Ebay store, Etsy and Not on the High Street. But hope to do more Lampshades once I've got a bit more organized.....(i've got 4 kids, you know!)
My wonderful husband has gone back to school and is at University and I now realize just how much he used to do, dinner every evening and scooting me around to the bank and post office etc so although I am very proud of my little scientist I really miss him too-apparently you can't sit texting people during lectures when you are a mature student-Boring!
I also was extreme brave and went on a walking weekend with Toby and some of his superfit friends and dragged my plump and aching body over some huge mountains(er hills)in the Lake District (only once- I definately learned my lesson from the first 8 hour walk!) though I did manage a more gentle 12 mile walk later around Ulswater. To the pub at the other end, of course (and a few gift shops too!- I'm always working you see....)

I have some other more lovely pictures but they are too big to download and until i work out how to do that they'll have to stay put, needless to say it was very beautiful and I hope to get some pretty watercolours done soon for you to see.
I also wanted to share with you a beautiful house belonging to an old friend of my mothers, if you love William Morris you will adore the handprinted wallpaper. The owner used to be a publisher and has collected some fantastic prints and drawings in his travels around the world. My favourites are some sketches by the Artist Jonathan Kingdom, whose paintings sketch of African animals and flowers are heavenly. The house is on the river Thames opposite Greenwich and has some fantastic views of the river.

I confess this seat is labelled "Anne Boleyn sat here" to fool the occasional tourist!

These are my sketches by Jonathan Kingdom, I love botanical and natural art.
This view is from the lounge window and shows Greenwich College with the Maritime Museum behind.
I'm sure theres much more to show and tell, but I'll have to leave it to next time as this post has involved 3 computers and various cables and I'm definately getting more computer phobic since the baby dropped my macbook in the fire place, I shall be coming to visit you to tell you I'm back about soon, Lots of love Zia
