farewell to Cake

Looks lonely doesn't it? I thought this picture would help symbolize my new project-after all I've gone from bunting to bedding to blinds to lampshades to baby gifts- my family are expecting me next to start tent making in pink polka dots but my next big thing is LOSING WEIGHT! Boring, I know and a common temporary fad but when the x-rays reveal your spine is wearing away, your hips are getting arthritic and your coccyx has lots its curve ( which is amazing because everything else is increasing in curves!) you beginning to see your life waddling along before you, all 36 years of it! Doc says I'm fat and unfit and facing hip replacements (eventually) if I don't lose weight so if I want to chase my (4 under age ten) crazy children round the garden again without pain killers its time for weightwatchers! Its only day 10 but I'm actually enjoying the food so far ( its the drink I have problems with!) And I have this plan that if I blog about it I might keep the motivation going- but please note I shall not be commenting on your lovely cakes for a while (unless its anonymously with drooling....) Bye for now, must go steam some broccoli for dinner!

Oh Zia...it won't be for long....look at the up side, you are young, you are busy, you will acheive your goals, then you can have other treats....and no pain, that must be a super bonus. You CAN do it, anyone who can make such pretty and inspiring items like you can, can acheive this....truly. We are with you all the way.

From Email-I look forward to hearing your progress...maybe you might inspire me to do something about the extensive kilo-age I need to drop myself. Thanks for reminding me that we have to consider our health into the future and not what size jeans we fit into in the here and now! – Jen

Zia - Just dropped by to say thank you so much for the lovely comment you left on my blog. I'm enjoying the blind making, and though it's a challenge, I'm being talked thru each stage on the Shabby Chic forum. So I have absolutely no idea what I am doing next! But huge thanks for your offer. I love your blog, and will visit again soon - your post here is inspirational. You beat me, with 4 under 10! Wow! Caroline x

Good luck with getting the curve back in your coccyx, I know you will miss your baking for a bit, but maybe you can make some super sweet faux cakes for Boo's Strawberry Cafe instead.
Just keep a shopping trip in monsoon for a few new things in mind, that always helps!

I am sending you all the best luck and thinnest vibes I can! I think I am ready to give it a proper go too. Tired of not looking nearly as cool as I used too ( hehehe!) I bought some veg today ( peppers, courgettes etc) and I am going to slice them and grill them with a small drizzle of olive oil. Hopefully that will tempt the tastebuds more than boiled veg!

Hi Zia,

Good luck with the diet. I lost about 2 stone with WEightwatchers after Kate was about 6 months and I was breastfeeding I had loads of extra points I could eat. Unfortunately, my appetite didn't decrease as she weaned slowly and I realised (too late as most of the weight had returned) that she'd been burning lots of my calories with all the milk she was consuming. Have been a chocoholic since Easter and seem to have ballooned, got back from hols today so am starting a strict diet tomorrow. Am going to stop drinking tea as I can't resist eating sweet stuff with a good cup of cha. Want to lose weight too before we have another baby! I know I'll prob use preg as an excuse to eat but want to be as healthy as poss starting the preg! All the best, Lorna

What an amazing way with words your doctor has! Wishing you lots of luck with your weight-loss project though...health is of course more important than anything, but I felt compelled to say that your profile picture shows you to be absolutely beautiful whatever weight you might be.

Thank you for your advice on the photos. x
