I love lamp
I have always wanted to be able cover lampshades, its seems to be a dying art as so many mass produced lampshades are available- but I thought it would be nice to provide them to match the curtains we make, so with the help of a few secondhand books (some just a penny!) from Amazon and a Fred Aldous Catalogue I set to work. I've made these three, the light blue was first, the red is to match a friends curtains (but I think its too big- so its back to the drawing board) and the last is a Laura Ashley fabric, which was the hardest to do all hand stitched and even balloon lined (took me 6 hours!) and went very well except the seam ripped so I hid it with a bow and the reverse shows more leaves and background than the pretty flowers- oophs! But it was nice to do something I've never tried before and thanks to the 8 shades I picked up from my local charity shop, I think it will definately be an ongoing hobby! (if anyone knows where I can get a regular supply of lampshades frames I'd really love to know, so that I can show customers a range to choose from, for when I've really practiced!

wow, you are really good at that! I think that must be really hard to do. I love the way it looks.
I can see that you also have snow there, here there fell some, but now it's gone again. I was thinking spring was here, but I guess we have to wait a bit more...
wish you a great week!

They look really good, very professional, gosh it could get to be a bit of a beautiful obsession, when you think of all the divine fabric and trimmings you could use.
Thankyou for your really kind and lovely comments, gave my wednesday evening a real lift.

Hi I love these lampshades - well done, esp on the Laura Ashley one, you'll be selling these no problem. Do you also make all the curtains/blinds that you sell on the Ebay shop? Am so impressed at your time management skills!
All the best, Lorna
these are really beautifully made, I should know I've seen them in the flesh, or fibre more like, but hey.
I especially like the patchwork pom pom one, but you know me, I'm a sucker for some pom pom trim.

Your shades are just beautiful, like Sea Angels says it could become an obsession - I already have a thing about lamps anyway but to be able to make them to match the curtains would be brilliant.

hello.. thanks for your message! I'd love to be able to make proper lampshades, yours are beautiful..I love the gingham one with the little frill! so pretty!
They look fantastic! I'm thinking of going on a lamp shade making course at Les Tuileres in Dorking becuase 1) I have yet to see a nice lampshade in any of the high street shops and 2) if you do find a nice one they don't match! It's a shame Cath Kidston no longer make lamp shades. Love your blog btw!
